April 25, 2008 - London, United Kingdom

I woke up this morning and went downstairs. I had breakfast, finished my job application, talked to Mom on Skype, did a little homework, and talked to Claire. She and I decided to explore London a little, so at 2:15 we left for the Natural History Museum.

The Natural History Museum is a short walk from our house, and although we pass it often, we had yet to go inside. The architecture is incredible, and the inside of the building has fascinating brick work. We walked all over the museum and saw dinosaurs, mammals and birds. In the bird room, Claire overheard a child say, "Why are they all so beautiful?" in a dreamy, British tone. We also saw gemstones, volcanic rock, tree fossils, and much much more.

After the museum, Claire and I split up. She went to Twinings for tea and I went to Harrod's. When I got inside, the police officer directed me which way to walk in the store. I don't know if it was because he was directing everyone that way, or if it was due to the fact I was in flip flops and a baseball cap. Either way, it was outrageously crowded, and I could hardly turn around. I took care of my business and came back to the house.

On the way home, I stopped at a flower shop and bought myself a Gerber daisy. Supposedly it is a very British thing to do to buy oneself fresh flowers. I have been planning on doing it all semester, and I thought today was the perfect day. The flower adds so much to my room!

Tonight I think I am going to do homework, have dinner at the house, go to the gym with Philip and Rachel, and maybe play some of our British board games that we found in the house later tonight.
