So it's June 25, and I have been back in the states for nearly two months. Time flew when I was in Europe, in the middle of the fast-paced lifestyle on that side of the ocean, and I expected that. However, now that I am now back in Lexington, Alabama, where the Tractor Pull has been the main highlight of the past two months, time continues to fly by. I guess it is just one of those inevitable things we have to deal with...
Summer has been incredible and I am loving being able to spend time with my family and friends. I have been working at a resort making reservations and helping people plan their vacations, and it is often very reminiscent of my time abroad in planning our weekend adventures. I still think of London often, and have remained in contact with many of the members of my group. Claire discovered that Kroger sells Digestive biscuits, and everyone is excited. Belk carries the Jigsaw fashion line, Wal-Mart has Twinings tea, and we are noticing little unexpected pieces of London here in Alabama. So many things are still distinct to the UK, though, and many times I have craved a grilled chicken baguette from La Liaison or Sainsbury's chunky tomato vegetable soup! Not to mention my favorite cereal, Weetabix.
I watched the movie Notting Hill last week and will admit that I cried. It had nothing to do with the story line, though, and was all homesickness for London. It was really cool, though, to see that Hugh Grant walked in some of the same places that I walked while I was there. I was just a little late...
I am looking forward to the rest of the summer and the fall too when I really get "In the swing of things." Who decides what is the "swing" anyways? I just jump from swing to swing, but it's great fun, and my life is very exciting right now-- even if I am in the slow, country town of Lexington. I am so blessed!
