Almost goodbye Jönköping

December 18, 2007 - Jönköping, Sweden

I can't believe that the semester is almost over. It felt like last week that we were saying, "only one more month". It seems like we have all been here forever and have known eachother forever as well. Today was our last final and it's such a relief to know that those are all done. My bags are almost all packed except for the clothes that I plan on wearing for the rest of my time here and some other random things. It just feels so unreal to already be heading back home.  Before coming here, four months away seemed like the longest time but in reality it has flown by.  I feel like I have done so much and learned so much about myself.  I have made incredible friends and it is so comforting to know that all but one of those friends will be at North Park next semester.  With that comfort it makes it a whole lot easier to be so ready to go home.  It just doesn't feel the same being away during a holiday.  Thanksgiving wasn't so bad but Christmas is the time to be with your family and I am so glad I am going to be able to do that.  It will be amazing to be able to celebrate christmas with my whole family up in Maine.  Although it would be impossible to all be together it is still wonderful to know that we are all close by.

Two weekends ago I went to Stockholm with a friend and this last weekend about 15 or so of us went to Gothenburg just hang out and see the city and Lisaburg which is a huge Christmas lights fair.  It has started to get really cold here and I'm getting ready to not have to climb huge hills to get to and from class and to and from downtown.

Today, my roommate, another friend and I went to the Matchstick museum which is what Jönköping is famous for, I guess. Matches were invented here so it seemed only right to go to the museum after living in this city.  It was a museum, enough said.

Tomorrow is a Themed Christmas party.  I have no idea what I am going to dress up as. Our class is doing Brothers Grimm so basically we can pick any charactor from any of his stories.  Seems easy but now when you have limited supply of costumes and don't want to spend money on things that you will never wear again. We will be dancing around the Christmas tree to the traditional songs. It should be fun.

I checked weather.com for Chicago and Boston. I really hope it doesn's snow on saturday...

Time to go and enjoy these last couple days! See you all back in the States! :)
