Blencoe Falls to Undarra Volcanic NP

July 22, 2008 - Undarra Volcanic Np, Australia

It kept raining, the whole day. Non withstanding the overcast the temperature at Blencoe Falls was comfortable, in the twenties. My second camp spot at Blencoe Falls was a great spot, 5 meters from the creek. No photos though, it was raining most of the time and on top of that, everything looked gray and uninspiring for photos.

I packed the wet yawning in the rain, the chair was wet, a towel soaking wet. I kept all the wet stuff on the flour to let it dry a bit.

I traveled to the Undarra Volcanic National Park and tried a shortcut via small track. That nearly worked out well, about two kilometers before reaching a more regular track I came upon a fence without a gate and had to backtrack and take an alternative route. Undarra is situated on the Atherton Tablelands, at around 800 meters above sea level.

Again not many photos today because of the constant rain. It called for careful driving, the dirt roads were slippery, specifically the short cut track.

At the Undarra Lodge I was told that the rain will last for another day and a half. Then the weather should clear up and the temperature drops. They said is was all very uncommon for this time of the year, it should not rain for at least 6 months.
