The night and morning were misery indeed as far as the weather was concerned. Lots of rain and visibility less than a 100 meters. When I descended Mnt Misery and entered Irvivebank, a tin mining town, the weather cleared. I stopped at different places to have a look in the wet rain forest, the fig trees being the main point of attraction. I also stopped at to crater lakes, rain forest all around them and crystal clear water.
I stopped at Cairns for a permit for the Crebs track, which is apparently closed for the better part. And then traveled north via the Black Mountain Road. According to the guide that is a true 4WD track, in reality it is a well maintained dirt track. I made a bush camp along this track in the rain forest.
