Robinson River Crossing to Southern Lost City

August 24, 2008 - Southern Lost City (1), Australia

I stopped at Borroloola to visit the local museum, housed in the former police office. This museum shows once again how few people were living in this area and how they struggled to make a living. It was really adventurous until well into the 20-th century. I also bought some food to add to the diminishing supply.

My next stop was Caranbirini National Reserve, a waterhole and a ‘Lost City’, formed by eroded sandstone. It was a sort of warming up for the Southern Lost City in the Limmen NP, a large area of fascinating sandstone pillars.

I made camp on the camp site of Southern Lost City, so that I could take early morning photos as well.
