Western Lost City to Mataranka

August 27, 2008 - Mataranka, Australia

2008-08-27 Western Lost City Mataranka

Early in the morning I made more photos of the Western Lost City, with different light again. Then I first returned the key of the gate to the ranger who once again pressed that I should not tell anybody that I camped at Western Lost City.

From there I headed west, direction Katherine. After a stop at Roper Bar Shop for some minimal supplies to last me another day when I will arrive in Katherine I continued and made camp at Mataranka on the Stuart Highway, that is some sort of a resort annex to a small reserve with a hot thermal pool.

The camp site is OK but too expensive, the thermal pool was great. And I badly needed to do the laundry, which was possible at this campsite as well.

The weather has changed definitely. So fas it cooled down considerably during the night, here it remained warn in the evening and hardly cools down during the night. I guess that is a combination of the winter running to an end and the location on the Australian continent.
