"While the faithful people of every tradition go on their pilgrimage with devotion and intense fervour, the saintly ones know that unless God is to be found within their own experience, such pilgrimage is useless." (Bro Ramon, Franciscan monk)
Back to planning, marking, yard duties, staff meetings, drawing of water and tilling of soil! One more short story - more to come later - returning from Iona on the Caledonian Sleeper, I shared the berth with another woman of my age. Again, a lesson learnt - we could have simply nodded politely at each other and commented on the comfort or otherwise of the beds, instead we talked with each other. And discovered that while I was grieving because it was Mark's birthday, she was grieving because her husband had died of a heart attack that day three years previously. And we were each given what we needed for that day.
Have managed to put in some more photos!

“Sitting at home and meditating on the divine presence is not enough for our time. We must come to the end of a long journey and see that the stranger we meet there is no other than ourselves - which is the same as saying we find Christ in him."
