a change of pace

March 17, 2008 - Utrecht, Netherlands

I messaged a lot of you already, but I think I'm taking a break from fuzzytravel. one of the most annoying features is that you can't privatize old entries, meaning I can't pretend to be an entirely sane and responsible individual later on. I'm just going to buy a journal that I can actually write in, and then I won't have to censor myself. I think I'm just going to leave it for pure description purposes and take my inner thoughts elsewhere. I'm looking forward to a medium where I can be completely honest and open, and start writing for me instead of other people. Writing for other people has become a defense mechanism of sorts preventing me from actually putting down what i'm feeling and thinking. So I guess check back here or on livejournal for more objective descriptions of my travels. If subjectivity is what you're looking for, you've either already received a long message via facebook or you need to hit up someone that has. try my ex-roomies, close friends, etc.I leave for Spain on Thursday, and I'll be gone until the 29th, so don't expect me on skype or online. Barcelona, then Minorca, and lastly Madrid. We're going to take day trips from Barcelona to the Dali museum and Sitges, a town by the beach i believe. I also want to try and go snorkeling in Minorca, but I'm not sure if I can afford it. Basically, I plan on forcing myself to wake up early, sightseeing all day, and partying at night. I'm also envisioning lots of sangria, tapas, and hopefully the sun. It's going to be a welcome break from the studying and dreariness of Utrecht.

I can only shoot 30 pics at a time, so I think I'm going to buy a bunch of disposable cameras and experience the fun of having NO clue what I'm actually gone end up with when I finally develop them at home. Should be exciting.

April is definitely going to be Berlin, maybe Dublin. May 1st-5th is most likely Prague, but if i can find cheap Dublin flights I may do that. I just figure it will be easier to do Dublin by myself than Prague, sooooo yeah, Prague it most likely is. Still trying to figure out the few weeks after school. I'll be done with school May 16th, and I don't come back to the states until June 5th. I won't have enough money to travel the whole time, but I think I'm going to at least try for Italy. Italy AND greece would be amazing, but I also kinda want to try and go to this festival in Holland called pinkpop. The lineup is amazing, but spread out over all of the days and 3 day passes are sold out. The last day is the 1st of June, so if I came back for it by May 28th, that would probably mark the end of my travels.

Longer than I intended. Hope you all are doing well.
