a quickie...but it feels so good!

February 21, 2008 - Utrecht, Netherlands

I bartended tonight! It was my first night, and I was actually kind of nervous, but it went great. Noelle (noel??) pointed out that one of the taps was WAY better halfway through, and after that i was golden. for a while there I was pouring really foamy beer. All of the UU kids (minus Jackie) made it out for my debut, which was nice. I served Erica my second beer, since they didnt get there right at 10 (laggers) and I had to lose my beer tapping virginity to the first taker. My biggest difficulty was understanding everyone with the accents and everything. You get free beer on your shift, which is nice, and free chips and peanuts. At the end you get a double shot. So I'm ending my night with a double barcardi and cola, and a cup full of these crispy covered peanut things. I'm rather happy. Now I can add bartender to my resume. It's sad, but after everyone left, my favorite part was washing the glasses. Very peaceful. I find repetitive motions rather relaxing. A close second was the sweeping. Almost as good as squeeging the water into the drain after a shower. There were a few cute looking customers, but as was explained to me: there are 200 dudes at UCU. approx half of those are gay (who woulda thought?). A large number of the rest have girlfriends. Of the available and straight guys, only 10 of them are attractive. My odds are not good. niet goed. But I did enjoy getting to meet a few people anyways. One guy was rather rude about my beer tapping capabilities, yet I warmed up to him. I love assholes. This was a pretty pointless post (albeit filled with good alliteration!). I'll try and live a more exciting life. In the meantime, I suggest you all go out and tap beers! You feel important. People need you...you know, to get to the beer. I have become an enabler, and I love it. Although, I must say, I prefer being on the other side of the beer. But on that side, I spend money. Behind the bar, I somehow left 5 euro richer.
I love my life
I'm going to watch "what dreams may come" as recommended (more like mentioned) by my sister. By the way, have I mentioned how awesome she is? Probably not enough. She's like me, only taller and skinnier and more pessimistic/sarcastic. Can you take how awesome I am and multiply it by infinity? The end result would be my sister. I miss her. apay, i miss you. come visit me. I promise not to get drunk and start running in the opposite direction from my home.
khanes out.
