Cambooogeee

January 7, 2008 - Siem Reap, Cambodia

So, Hong Kong was awesome! We only spent 2 days there, and it was huge. There were over 8 million people living in the city! I was surprised by how many people spoke English, pretty much everyone. And they took American dollars, which was definetely a bonus.

We got a 3 day visa for Cambodia. The first day we visited the palace, a temple, got swarmed by darling poor begger children, and nearly attacked by monkies. The same day I learned all about the Cambodian genocide of the '70s that my high school history teacher failed to mention in my world history class. Lets just say it was quite a shock seeing all those skulls at the killing fields when I had never learned about the genocide before I stepped foot into the former Khmer Rouge prison in Penom Penh. To say the least, it was an educational day.

The second day was a drive from Penom Penh to Siem Reap and a beautiful sunset from the temple ruins. Third day, today, in Cambodia we climbed the temple ruins of Angkor Wat and surrounding Wats and then we got $1000 stolen by our bus driver and tour guide. Off to Thailand!
