I didn't realize that Samford's house is in the wealthiest neighborhood in London, which is the wealthiest city in England. So I live in the wealthiest neighborhood in England! Dr. Thames came and took us on a tour of the 'hood' (which is acutally anything BUT) today to give us the run down of everyone famous and rich who has lived in our neighborhood, which is pretty much everyone. There are Lexus, Volvos, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and the occasional Aston Martin just sitting on the street, perfectly parallel parked inches away from each other! We live close to tons of cool places, parks, museums... Whole Foods! haha.
Our next door neighbor, Rodger, came over for a chat this evening. He is a member of the Serpentine Swimming Club. Every morning he goes to the Serpentine River at 5:30 am, rain, dark (since the sun is never up that early), sleet, or snow. In the summer he swims 20-30 minutes, but in the winter, when the river is slightly above deathly cold, he only stays in about 10-30 seconds. Honestly, I don't know why he bothers if its only for such a short time, but I guess everyone has their way of waking up in the morning. He has spent years in libraries (retired professor of Oxford) so he knows so much about London and so many back street cool places to visit!
