Viva El Salvador

January 28, 2007 - San Salvador, El Salvador

Hola Quetal,

Well, so much has happended already I don´t even know where to begin. So I guess we´ll just hit the highlights. Andres and I have been in San Salvador checking out El Salvador´s largest city and spending time with his family. The people here have been very helpful in every way and the family we have been staying with have been great, such hospitality. We started out the first day by hiking up Volcano San Salvador. The view from the top was amazing and the villages and areas we went through to get to the top were very real....don´t know if Mom would of been proud of this idea, but we made it safe and sound. We took a bus to Pequna, well we actually took 3 buses, it was a little way out in the country, next. This was the strong hold of the FMLN, the guerillas who fought aganist the government from 1979 to 1991, and is now a muesum to remember the struggle. We actually met one of the guerillas who fought in the war and he talked us through the exhibts and answered all of our questions. His insight into the conflict was nothing you would ever read in any text book. The whole town in general was amazing and the views were nothing less than incredible. We are back in San Salvador now and getting ready to take a bus to Managua, Ecuador tomorrow morning, this will be about an 11 hour bus ride! Sound like fun huh... Well, all and all, El Salvador is an amazing place with lots of history to soak up. The people were more than friendly and the culture is something everyone should see. I hope everyone is doing well and staying out of trouble. Please keep posting comments on the journals, I enjoy reading them very much and would like to know if there is anything else you are all interested in hearing about. Too much goes on everyday to write about it all, sorry. Well, miss you all and will keep you informed of what goes on. I´ll try to write more soon and will hopefully get pictures up....

Michael

Two boys are playing hockey on a pond in a Chicago Park when a crazed Rottweiler suddenly attacks one of the boys. Thinking quickly, the other boy takes his hockey stick, shoves it under the dog's collar, twists it and breaks the dog's neck, saving his friend.

>A reporter is standing by, sees the incident, and rushes over to interview the boy. "Young Cubs Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal," he starts writing in his notebook. "But I'm not a Cubs fan," the little boy replies. "Sorry, but since we're in Chicago, I just assumed you were," says the reporter and starts writing again.

>"Sox Fan Rescues Friend From Horrific Attack," he writes in his notebook. "But I'm not a Sox fan either," the little boy replies. "Sorry, but since we're in Chicago, I just assumed you were," says the reporter and starts writing again.

>"Bears Fan Rescues Friend From Horrific Attack," he writes in his notebook. "I'm not a Bears fan either," says the boy. "Oh... I assumed everyone in Chicago was either for the Cubs, Sox or Bears. What team do you root for?" the reporter asked. "I'm a Colts Fan," the boy replies. The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes:
