Hello all....
Just returned from the Pampas (wetlands) outside of La Paz, Bolivia, where I was wrestling crocs and anacondas......still in one piece dont ya worry....good times had by all..! We took a little 16 person double prop plane out to the wetlands which was about a 45 minute flight, it was either that or a 20 hour bus ride. 45 minutes on a little crop duster or 20 hours on a smelly Bolivian bus over unpaved roads that are only wide enough for traffic going one way but yet traffic goes both over mountains and jungles...you do the math...! 4 days out in the jungles and wetlands in a little motor boat. Stayed actually in the wetlands in cabins raised over water. Hung out with pink dolphins(yes, there really is fresh water pink dolphins, no bullshit), monkeys, snakes, every type of bug and spider in the world, man eating fish or pirhans and birds the size of taradactals! All and all great trip! Back in La Paz as of this morning, same little plane through the mountains back, and getting ready to mountain bike the ¨Death Road¨ tomorrow or the next day, the time has finally come.....figured we would keep with the whole danger mentality that we set in motion with the plane ride and the wetlands/jungle. No worries though....everything will turn out fine....
Leaving La Paz probably on Sat. towards Santa Cruz to possibly hike the ¨Che¨route and than heading to the Salt Flats.
Now for the bad news....this fantastic journey, like all good things, is coming to an end...confirmed my ticket to come back to the states and making my way out of South America starting on the 14th of this month. Flying from Sucre, Boliva to Buenos Aires on the 14th, spending one night there and leaving the next morning to Rio and than from Rio to Arizona. In Az for about two weeks and than on to Denver, find out about school on the 15th of this month. Pretty upset that this trip must come to an end but going to live it up for the last couple weeks.
Hope all is well with everyone and the weather has changed to sunny and warm all across the states. Don´t know whether or not I´m going to write another entry before I leave S.A. but if I don´t count on a closing entry once I´m back in AZ. (sorry on pictures, too much of a pain in the ass down here, will pull a whole album together once I´m back...)
Take care...
