So when I left the last entry I was sitting there in Athens on the computer with someone convincing me to go out on the town. I ended up going but when we got to the place everyone from the hostel was just sitting outside eating gyros (which is one of the other amazing foods in greece). We didn't want to go in so I asked where else we could go, so we ended up going to a place across the street. I go up the stairs with some other people following me when we start hearing this cheering. Turns out we had interrupted a private birthday party and when everyone saw us they started cheering. Well cheering turned into singing and it went on like that in Greek for a little while. Due to this unexpected moment we decided to get a picture of two of us in the middle of the circle but when I tried to get out of the circle they wouldn't let me. Everyone started singing Happy Birthday and then chanting which I didn't understand so after the second time this happened someone told me in English what they were chanting: "kiss him." After trying to refuse, and after not getting away I finally oblige the crowd and do the traditional kiss on the cheek 3 times. After much more cheering and picture taking they start singing Happy Birthday again telling me that it was someone else birthday as well. Needless to say, after this we ran away before I had to kiss any other Greek men. This was the craziest thing that has happened to me so far on my holiday.
Monday was our last day in Athens so Linda and I decided to take it easy so we just went to the main museum in Athens until we got on the ferry to go to the island Santerini. Getting unto the ferry we got to meet two people that are from Argentina and were staying at the same hostel in Athens with us. We hung out with them on the overnight ferry and arrived at our hotel at 5 in the morning with them where we were unable to check in. To pass the time we went to the beach and were able to watch the sun rise over the ocean which was soo beatiful. After being able to finally check in we discovered how cheap things were in Santorini we decided to rent some ATV's to discover the island. This has been SOO much fun and it feels alot safer than trying to drive or scooter around the island. The weather is beautiful and I have enjoyed it today and I hope that it will only get better to improve my nice burn.
The internet is fast here so I will be putting up pictures before I leave Santorini. ![]()
