Yesterday I had a trombone lesson with Brett Baker, 1st trombonist from the Black Dyke Band. He has some amazing technique and range. He is very nice too! He was very complementary of my playing and it was a good lesson. Talked about air support, longer phrases, upper range, and double tonguing.
I was also selected to play in a 10-piece group to back up the cornet soloist Richard Marshall. Talk about pressure! Having to play in a group with Brett, Steven Sykes, Owen Farr, David Childs, Ian. and Alun. But it went really well and it was such a great opportunity.
It is another glorious day with beautiful sunshine. I am so blessed by this weather! Tonight is the Whit Friday March Contest. Our rehearsal is a 2:00 P.M. and we have to prepare 2 marches, one to MARCH with, and one to play. We march around to each "town" and get judged. I'm in the Temperance Band - ha!
Tomorrow is the concert and the final night. It's been really fun meeting all the different people and playing different music.
