Today I was Czar (which means I stayed in the office) and it was pretty nice and relaxing.  Today was also the most beautiful day I've seen since I've been here... about 75 degrees and sunny.  I took a conference call with some McCain campaign members and advisors who talked about his economic policies and what he plans to do about foreclosures, mortgage rates, rising gas and food prices, etc.  It was pretty boring, I don't like the financial stuff.

Yesterday I went to two pretty boring events, but someone has to do it... In the morning, there was a Congressional hearing with the Federal Housing Association to discuss solutions to the housing crisis, but it was really economically/financially oriented and again, that's really not my thing.  In the afternoon, I went to another hearing to discuss the progress of the Department of Homeland Security since it was implemented in 2003.

Tomorrow night there is an event at the Hyatt involving the Cherry Blossom Festival, but it is a black tie event with a free sushi dinner and the press is invited, so some of my coworkers and I are going to go and pretend like we are covering it even though we're just in it for the sushi... should be pretty fun.

Next week, the staff members have a Correspondents Dinner with President Bush at the White House, but since interns aren't allowed to go because we don't have the security clearance, the owner of the company is paying for us to all go out to a really nice dinner by ourselves.   After that, there is an after party nearby which we are getting paid to work at and should be a lot of fun.  We have to stay until 1:30 am and then work at 8:30 am the next day, but I'm still really excited.
