Bike Tour & Our Day in the City

January 12, 2008

Friday morning we woke up at 8 for the bike tour... still half asleep. We got coffee and took the metro to meet the group in the Gothic Quarter of town. The tour was, by far, one of the most incredibly things I have EVER done. I saw some of the most beautiful buildings, parks, fountains and beaches I have ever seen... duh!!! It made me have a completely different perspective of Barcelona and reassured me that I definitely made the right choice to come here. Jordan, one of our coordinators is also a tour guide but he's from San Diego. He's like 27 and really cute. We love him. We went ALL over the city and stopped at the beach to hang out for a while. We also tried churros dipped in chocolate which is like a very common dessert here. Anyway, it was absolutely incredible and we were all soo happy we did the tour.
After like 10 of us girls went out for lunch at this great restaurant that was kind of like a bar lounge. I finally ate real food too... a chicken wrap. haha. In Barcelona, they have the most drawn out meals. They take forever to do everything because you are supposed to enjoy your food, the wine, and your company. Its actually a really great concept... Ya Barcelona!!! But it was really nice and we came home and took our siesta... we were delirious and making a scene on the metro on the way home because we were hysterically laughing at the stupidest things. Then we woke up at around 7:30 and got ready to meet all the girls at the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner. We all met up and first went to this bar called 'Cervesaria' for sangria and tapas before our dinner. We fell in love with this place... everyone was soo pleasant and the owner was this old man who was so sweet to us and made us feel like we'd known him for years. It was a really great atmosphere (and the sangria was amazing). Then we went to Hard Rock and had a really delightful dinner with all the girls and I finally got a great salad I'd been dying for. I'm obsessed with the girls we've made friends with. They are so great and we are all soo excited to be together this semester and are already dreading saying goodbye to eachother... and we've only been here for 4 days.
We didn't really feel like going out to a club cause we were all really tired so we just walked along the street 'La Rambla' which is like 'the 3rd street promenade of Barcelona' where a lot of the clubs and bars are. We walked all the way down to the harbor and then took the metro home. It is now 2:39 a.m. and Noelle, Ash and I are just sitting in the living room hanging out. I seriously love it here and am already having a better time than I could have ever possibly imagined. This is such an amazing city and I could not ask for a better group of people to share this experience with. We never want to go to sleep... we want these days to last forever....
