After class we went to a little cafe and got our caffeine fix, then we headed out the the the side of town where the other university is (that everyone else from our program goes to) and shopped around and hung out with our adviser Julia at the GSE office. We love her!!!! We got gym memberships at this gym called DIR that has locations all over the city. We bought the package that enables us to use any of the locations. We got home and I made tacos and grilled vegetables for us. It was delicious and we quickly got ready to go out after that. It was our friend Kevin (who lives downstairs)'s 21st birthday, so even though we had school for 8 hours the next day, we "had" to go out.
So we went to this club called 'Robelinos' where they were serving free drinks for the first hour. We got really really lost trying to get there but finally found it and it turned out to be such a fun night. The club was really cool inside, but due to the free drinks, the bar was packed!!! We all danced the night away and I met a guy named Jordan from Madrid who was rather cute... We hung out all night
We hung out downstairs in the boys apartment until like 6:30 a.m. and they made breakfast for everyone. Needless to say, we only got an hour of sleep and had an eight hour day of school ahead of us. We were dragging the whole day and it was rough trying to make it till 5:30. But we did it and just had a quiet night at home.
We had school on Thursday in the morning but that class is so cool that it doesn't feel like a class. We came home, took a siesta and then decided to try out the gym. It took us A VERY long time to find the gym but when we finally got there, we were shocked at how huge and nice it is. We are paying a lot to be a member there, but its worth it. It has 8 floors, an indoor olympic pool, a huge spa, sauna, sun deck and each floor is for a different activity (one floor is cardio, another is weights, another is the locker room, etc.) It is great and definitely gives me motivation to go often. When we finally got home, we made grilled shrip with broccoli, corn and a baguette (which are soo fresh and delicious here.)
That night we were soo excited because we had planned to do a bar crawl with a bunch of people from our program. We got flyers to go and met at this Irish pub at 10:30. When we got there, it was packed and we met up with all our friends. There were like 30 of us there and we paid 15 euro for the night. We got one free drink at each bar (3 of them) and ended at a club. The bars were so cool and different from one another. We met a ton of really cool people and played different games and such at each bar. Once we got to the club, everyone was dancing together and Ash and I danced with these two Spanish guys who were amazing dancers. They were twirling us around and picking us up and dipping us. It was hilarious! All I can say is it was one of the craziest nights yet. It was soo much fun being with everyone from our program and we stayed out till 4. It was such a blast!!!
Today we woke up at around noon and the eight of us had planned on going to this place called Montjuic. It's a hill/park that has castles and such and the best part is that it overlooks the ENTIRE city. We went to a Catalan restaurant before we went up and the girls got 'paella' which is the traditional dish of the city and its like this wierd rice and meat caserole thing. I wanted nothing to with it... so I just got a salad. I literally just eat a yogurt for breakfast and a turkey sandwich for lunch everyday. I barely eat when we go out because I literally don't like the traditional food here... the desserts are to die for though... but we're trying to watch our figure!
We took this tram to the cable cars that took us up to Montjuic and it was right at sunset which was wonderful and one of the most beautiful things i've seen here. We were literally looking out over the whole city and Mediterranean Ocean right at sunset. We decided we wanted to come back there during the day because there was soo much to see. We walked down the mountain (for literally an hour and a half) and we walked next to castles, art museums and incredible fountains. We are for sure going back there. We FINALLY found the metro stop and I really wasn't feeling well.
I have a fever and just really need to go to bed. I miss everyone so much but I am seriously so happy here. I never realized how much this city had and how incredible it is. I can't wait for everything we have to come and to get even closer with the amazing friends I've made here. Until next time...
