Sounds like the name of a heavy metal album, right?
No, it's the title describing my first snowboarding blog entry. As you may have read in Melanie's last blog entry, yes "snowboarding is ace", but learning how to do it comes at a price. I've put my body through some punishment over the years, playing football, doing crazy army shit, impaling myself on star pickets and putting fishhooks through my fingers just to name a few examples. And I like to think I have a reasonable pain tolerance, but my body has never screamed out to me for mercy as much as it has after 2 days of learning to snowboard.
In hindsight I probably should have waited until the mountain was covered with snow instead of ice, you see I have come to realise that ice is much harder than snow, hence more damaging when you slam your body on it at high speed.
Do want to know what the sick thing about it all is? It's so much bloody fun!!! I'm going back for more today, there is more snow now (much more), and I'm going to try and get in on a free lesson. Mel says the difference a lesson makes is astronomical, so I should be dominating the half-pipe by the end of the day. Or dominating Intensive Care at my local hospital....we'll see.
Take care everyone, and keep in touch!
P.S. Don't expect any photos of us boarding just yet, you heard what happened to me while boarding, imagine what would have happened to the camera.
