Okay, today is Australia Day. So Happy Australia Day everyone. We spent big and bought four tiny lamb chops to have as part of our celebrations. So that's at least two things I've discovered that I took for granted in Australia now....vegemite and a cheap, plentiful supply of lamb.
Yesterday we went for a bit of a venture into the city to book and pay for our bus tickets from Calgary to Lake Louise. We've been booking and paying for these things in person so that we can avoid using the credit card. We caught the skytrain and went for a walk. Mel thought she knew where the bus terminal was but we got a bit lost and ended up in a sort of shitty, no-mans land part of town. It's always fun to end up on the wrong side of the tracks, as long as you're smart about things! We ended up sorting out the bus ticket business. We got some pretty cool footage of the train
ride back. The skytrain allows you to sit right up front and look out the window as there are no drivers. Later that afternoon we went to our friends Alice and Chris' place for a couple of drinks and nibbles before heading to our second Vancouver Giants hockey game. To be honest, we like the hockey, but everything else that happens at the stadium is more entertaining than the actual game itself. Again, check the videos for evidence of this. Well, we're off to a gig tonight in town. A friend of ours from work is in a band and they're having a CD launch tonight. They're an Aussie band, so what better way to spend Australia Day than supporting a band from back home? (Nobody say drinking beer and playing cricket at the beach, that's not and option here!)
That's about it for now. Stay tuned for another update after the gig tonight.
(We didn't go to the gig, so there won't be an update for that one. Sorry guys!)
Take it easy everyone.
Justin.
