We've had a solid weekend, a good mix of relaxing and getting out and doing things (without spending too much money). It's been a bit of a week for trying different food. I bought some elk salami on a whim a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty and un-fatty (if that's a word) it was. I think I'll be buying a swag of it to take during our travels and much on it during long bus rides. Mmmm, elk.

On Friday afternoon we went to do our grocery shopping. Most weeks we pick up a chicken and have a roast dinner on Sunday or Monday nights. Mel stumbled across a Guinea Fowl that was on special. I had no idea what a Guinea Fowl was until ten minutes ago when I googled it.

I felt bad for a second, but right now I can smell it cooking in the oven, and it smells damn good. Here's to you Mr. Guinea Fowl, let's hope that you taste as good as you smell.
On Saturday night we went out to dinner at a Brazilian cafe with friends Laura and Rich. The food was good, I had a spicy chicken dish that sort of reminded me of a Thai curry. It was BYO, so Mel and I polished off a bottle of wine over dinner and the four of us sat there for a good couple of hours waffling on until it was time for the place to close.
Due to inclement weather we spent a good deal of our Sunday cooped up in the flat. Our imagination wasn't really firing so we were having trouble coming up with low cost entertainment. I started climbing the walls with boredom and insisted that we head to the Oz Bar to catch a delayed game of footy. I was especially hoping to catch the Collingwood vs Sydney game. But yet again they did not have any games playing. So we had a few pints and headed home.
Today we went went for a wander in town, stopped in at the library and Mel printed out some itinerary information for our trip to Ireland and Europe. We also went out for a cuppa and sat planning some things to do when we get to Berlin. Legoland here we come! (Maybe).
Well I gotta get going, I think the Guinea Fowl is done (like a dinner).
Take it easy everyone.
