Life without Brian

April 27, 2008 - Balad, Iraq

As you all know my good friend Brian headed home early Friday morning and lets just say he must have been in a hurry to get home because he landed back in Orlando Friday evening. Brian glad you’re home safe. Enjoy the time off with Stephanie and your family, but just wanted to say thanks for all your help. I’ll see you in October.

Things haven’t really changed much since Brian left, as work is still work. Kelly and I are keeping busy and trying to stay out of trouble. However, we found it the other day as we went over the KBR camp to do some laundry during our lunch but ran into their security personnel. Basically, we weren’t authorized to use the facilities but we’re told that we could so needless to say I am finding trouble even in Iraq. Kelly and I were at least allowed to let our clothes finish the wash cycle but then told we had to leave the premises. Nothing like a bag of wet clothes and sheets, thank goodness its hot over here. Actually just went back to my room and laid everything out so they could dry. By the time I came home that evening everything was dry and I was good to go, guess we will have to find another facility or just use the services provided.

I’ve moved into my new room that Brian use to occupy. Its much nicer than the room I was sleeping in. My new room is twice as big and came equipped with a television, DVD player, and was relatively clean. Thank you Brian!!!!! I owe you big time. I will post some pictures in the upcoming days. Now that I’m all moved in to my new room, guess I should clean up my old room and get it ready for Johnny who will be replacing Kelly when he leaves in a month. Anyone want to come clean it up for me, I’ll pay you!!!!!!!

I received another care package this week, thanks Dad and Marna! The oatmeal is a welcomed sight as I was getting tired of eating Special K…. hahahaha! The jerky is good and the SnackWells cookies and RedVines are a welcome treat. Thanks again!

Still don’t have a vehicle, but hopefully we will have something in the next few days.  Keep your fingers crossed!!!!!!!!! Other than that not much is going on, just actually got the “All Clear” from the Command Post only thing is I never heard a warning siren or anything like that. Well hope everyone has enjoyed there weekend. Have a good one and until next time, GO MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So happy you have a new "luxurious" room. Be nice to the new guy when he comes. Leave it to you to find trouble - follow the rules - I know your Mom and Dad taught you better than that! And pay attention! Have a good week!

Even in Iraq you find shitty Gators crap. Wood, I've been telling you for year, "UF is a cult!" That pic proves it. Nothing like sweating in the desert, oh ya its called a sauna for about 20 minutes.

My real concerns for you while you are over there are
1. Can you watch any sports?
2. Can you keep up with fantasy sports?

Clearly the things that matter most in life.
