Today is the first day of May, can you believe it. I can’t believe I’ve been away from home almost a month now. The time sure does fly by when you’re having fun. I sure do miss being able to follow all the gossip going on in Hollywood, so have I missed out on anything? Guess I don’t have any takers on coming to clean up my old room. Guess I’ll have to clean it myself.
One of the nice perks about being over here is I don’t have to pay for postage when mailing cards back to the States. I didn’t realize I was going to be saving money on postage as well. SWEET! The only reason I mention this is because of upcoming birthdays, anniversaries, and other holidays like Mother’s & Father’s Day.
One of my friends thought I should write about the living conditions, the people, etc. With that let me first start with “Dusty”, everything is dusty as we are surrounded by sand and when the wind kicks up the first thing to stir up is the sand/dirt. You get use to it, but definitely something that gets old. I will take some pictures showing the surrounding area near my room. I will also upload some pictures of my room. As for the people, there are all sorts of different ethic groups. Of course you have your soldiers, contractors, and foreign nationals (locals). I don’t have much interaction with the locals but on the few occasions when I’ve interacted with them they are very polite and respectful. The language barrier doesn’t allow for much conversation, but a simple “hello, how are you?” goes a long way. Most of my interaction is with the group of soldiers where my office is located. There unit is based in Germany, but from my short time here I’ve gotten to know quite a few of them and its nice to meet knew people. I also deal with some fellow contractors from a different company who help run the warehouse. They are very helpful in assisting myself and Kelly when needed.
Kelly and I going on a field trip this weekend. Brian, why didn’t you tell me about the water tower in downtown Balad? Kelly was sort of stunned you didn’t tell me about all those times you and him ventured outside the gates to go hang out by the water tower as there is a big lake with jet skis, tubing, BBQ’s, etc. Brian I must say I’m a little hurt you didn’t share. I will let you all know about our adventure in my next post.
So I’d like to share with you all the latest joke in Kelly’s arsenal. Brian this joke is in honor of you from Kelly. Why don’t cannibals eat clowns????? Anybody??????? Ok I tell you, because they taste funny!
Other than that not much is going on. Just trying to follow the Orlando Magic as they advanced into the 2nd round of the playoffs and will play either the Detroit Pistons or Philadelphia 76ers. I have a real good feeling about the Orlando Magic during these playoffs. I believe in MAGIC!!!!! Well have a good one and until next time, enjoy!
Oh yeah and for those of you that might believe me about the water tower and everything it’s a joke. There is no way either myself or Kelly are leaving the base at all except to go home. Thought it would add some humor, hahahahaha! Happy readings!

REALLY GUY U NEED THAT AND THATS SOMETHING U MISS
