Finally, Hopetown!!

March 12, 2008 - West End, Bahamas

We came to Hopetown 12 years ago with our family and always said it was the one place we would love to return to.  Well, here we are!!!

Our engine problems seem to be okay now,  We are not real sure if it is a dirty fuel tank that got stirred up or what, but have taken measures to correct the problem.  We left Green Turtle on March 11th, had a fairly decent ride as we had to go on the outside, ocean, for a short time but it was fine and not too wavy.  Anchored at Great Guana in a bay that used to be used by Premier Cruise Lines and was their "Treasure Island".  Beautiful beach and we plan on going ashore on our return.  The wind picked up today so it was not a good place to anchor with the direction the wind was coming from.

Someone asked about the bike situation.  Yes, I found a 12 year old boy that did not have one, so now he has a bike.  His mother is a waitress at the fine dining restaurant at the Green Turtle Club Marina.  Lowell still has his, and he rides his much more than I ever did.  Lowell and I decided we have some things kind of in common, he likes to sail and I like Marinas...

We are at Hopetown Hideaway Marina, it has a pool, internet access and the cutest shower you have ever seen.  Remember the shower on Mash?  I will try to get a picture of it, as it is an outdoor shower with walls that don't go all the way to the floor.  The said it has hot and cold water.  We plan to stay here a few days and explore this part again and maybe take the ferry into Marsh Harbor.

It sounds wonderful, I knew there would be some happy boy with a new bike! I am glad the boat is running better and will say a prayer for your safe return. Enjoy the flowers and green grass, I think it will be awhile before we see grass, we still have about 3-4 inches if not more of snow on the ground. Now its starting to look more dirty, it will be a muddy spring. Take care have fun, and live life to the fullest!! Love denise
