About us

We're a couple of long-standing friends from Bournemouth. The idea of going off travelling is something we've talked about for some time and my redundancy (Tracey's) in June was the catalyst for doing it now. One Friday in June Nicky came round for lunch (which I managed to burn spectacularly!!) and to talk about plans for the South America part of the trip. It was then I decided I to carry on after South America. Out cycling with Kath 2 days later I told her all about it and her reaction was "but I want to come!" By tea-time the next day Kath had put her college course on hold, sorted out her work committments (working for your ex husband has its' advantages) and talked to Paolo and her children about it. The following Saturday we were in STA travel buying our ticket.

We're both really looking forward to taking some time out to travel and realise how lucky we are having the opportunity to do it!

About our trip

The trip starts with a 9 week overland tour leaving Rio de Janeiro and going across South America through Brazil, Bolivia, Peru and Equador. The end point is Quito in Equador and from there we depart for the Galapagos islands for 6 days.

We then go to New Zealand, Australia and South East Asia. Finally we have a three week stop off in India before returning home in April.

We're hoping to see Fossy our triathlon friend in new Zealand (if he's back there by then)! We'll be spending about 3 weeks in NZ then we're going on to Australia in time for christmas and new year. We'll be in Sydney on new year's eve for the fireworks spectacle. As we move up through Aus we're planning to see our Friends Colin and Denise in Brisbane.

We get to Singapore in mid Feb and are planning to visit Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia. If time and safety allow we'd love to go to Burma too.
