The day has come...

October 31, 2007 - Vienna, Austria

Hello family and friends.

Writing to you after our return from the restaurant 'Centimeter' where we had some massive schnitzel! And boy do I mean massive serves, with french fries and ketchup. Sounds like a funny mix of Austrian, Amercian and French (?) Dyl has some of our friend Lukas' favourite beer, Stiegl and I had a red wine spritzer. Dad you would love the beer here! Wish we could bring one of each of them back for you to taste-test! Mum, Dyl said you'd approve of the generous portion sizes.

We are still recovering. Maree you would be very happy to hear this news I'm sure. (pssst, Maree. I am still trying to convine Dyl to do the MOvember Mo. Yes, classic...Mozart can be the team mascot!!!) Kenny, Dyl said you weren't so into the beard? Come on, it's funny. Wait for the photo of Dyl with a mo - remember the Scubs episode when Kelso calls out 'Pepe'...? Well, that's what I call Dyl with a mo. (This photo seems to have been placed in the wrong spot so you might have to have a dig around the other entries for it)

Tomorrow is All Souls Day and yes, another public holiday. The Austrian's sure love a public holiday! We've had 2 already during our short stay. We are thinking of going to an Abbey in the Wachau valley in lower Austria tomorrow.

Dyl came and visited Bettina and I at uni today. We had another delicious cafeteria meal. (Nath, Dyl's well on his way to the extra 10KGs) The University of Business and Economics (WU) is close to this big furnace which burns rubbish to create energy for the heating system. The furnace tower is massive so the government commissioned an artist or designer to do something with it to make it look less industrial and ugly. So, in the picture you will see it looks very unusual in the way its painted and turned into a work of art. (Kik, does this building remind you of the little monsters cartoon character who had this black and white design on her?? Forgot her name)

Okay, I'll put some photos up for you to see how big the Schnitty was...

All our love,

Katie and Dyl.

Hello fellow travellers. Have finally had a chance to catch up with your Blog again. Loved the pics, especially Dyl with beard ... so European! The schnitzel looked great also, a much more civilised sounding meal then the saumargen (stuffed pig's belly) that we had in the south of Germany. It did taste better than it sounds. Hope you have a great day for your birthday, Katie and that all drinks are free. Still hope to see you in Vienna.

Hey Katie, happy birthday, hope you have a cool day and Dyl remembers to use the 200 euros we gave him to take you out for a nice dinner. Dyl I don't want no pretending that we didn't give you the money, and if you've spent that money on the latest in beard growing technology I will be an angry man. Have a good day guys, you're not missing much here it's 17 degrees and raining. Nath
