A Sad Day in Seoul

February 13, 2008 - Seoul, South Korea

The show continues to go well. We've had a couple other people out so this week is a little crazy. I think my track last night was at least 3 different people at different points in the show. I love live theater! I'm so glad that I'm loving swinging as much as I thought I would. How horrible it would have been to finally get going and be a nervous wreck all over the place. I'm very lucky that I've been in the show for 6 months already, so if I'm not entirely certain of something when I go onstage I can find the hole and figure it out as I go. Fun times.

After 2 shows on Sunday we had a farewell party for my friend Kevin. He's one of the originals who has been here since the beginning and really great asset of the company. He is already miss. However, to send him off in a proper fashion we had an 80's party for him. Good times.

Unfortunately, Sunday night we also witnessed one of South Korea's "national treasures" burn to the ground. Right down the street from our hotel is the South Gate, the Namdaemun Gate. It used to be a gate to the wall that used to surround the city; it's 600 years old and even made it through the Korean War. When we passed by on our way home from the show we saw a lot of smoke and a ton of fire trucks. It looked under control... but apparently we were wrong. When we were coming home from the party we saw the entire thing had collapsed. So sad...
Here's an article:
South Gate Fire
Weird that it happened while we were here... and right down the street from our hotel

I guess you'll never be bored, eh? My heart would be going 1,000,000 beats/minute, my palms sweaty, my stomach churning, my brain in lock down...WHERE did you come from?!
And
Wow, that must be so sad for the city and country to loose history like that.
Thanks for the news of Katie!

The picture of the fire is so sad. Too bad one person can wipe out so much history like that.
The swinging must seem like a new show every night.

Love,
Dad xo
