campbells banana

November 16, 2006 - Tully, Australia

Last two weeks Ive bn working on a small banana farm. A guy called Dave from canada which Katie met in CT got us the jobs. We have to get up at 5 30 am, first three days i was packing banans in the shed, saw a lot of lil spiders and one or two big ones. The next week, I was out in the paddock fixing sprinklers and setting up pipe lines for new banana plants. This week I'm back in the shed moving banana branches around and getting covered in banana sap which is really hard to wash off. I've seen tree snake, tree frogs, lil toads and a huge rat. Im getting AUD 511 aweek which is really nice.
On Friday nights ive bn going to Rafters which is a pub/club, they play good music. last friday night they had a band playing. Kevin (irish guy from the hostel) and I sat and watched them wiv a bit of crazy dancing now and then til 2 am when they closed.
On Sunday, I moved out of the sacoy and into Tully hotel as it is AUD 80 cheeper. lost a pool but gained air con in the rooms which is amazing.
I moved across with Patch and Monica on tuesday we went in search of somewhere to swim. Kevin took us to a bit of the tully river where you can swim but you have to jump 8 feet and then swim across to a sandy area. its really nice and pretty there, been goin everyday after work. Theres also a slight current near the bend where you can swim on the spot and unwind from work.
