Meka and Hanoi
July 13, 2008 - Ha Noi, Vietnam
So, in my eagerness to get back to the lovely Vietnam, I paid the extra money and bought a direct flight (direct) to Hanoi.... I have sadly had to cancel visits to both laos and thailand as I have been unable to drag myself around fast enough, but Vietnam airlines, in their infinite wisdom, could not have me miss out entirely, so they included (in my direct flight) a stopover in..... Vientiane!!! I got to go to Laos! i have some spectucular photos of the place! and my time there was very rewarding! Anyway, then onto Hanoi.... I am out on my own now boys and girls. It was night when i arrived and i was picked up from the airport (yep, with a sign and all!!!) and taken to my hotel where i had a great room (all be it more expensive than quoted) with a balcony over looking Hanoi's Old Quarter. This place is like someone said, "Meka, you get design a city.... How would you like it?" and I said, "I want narrow and wind-y and hot and colourful and old and fall-y down and asian-french and I want it now!!!" and they said, "Ok, consider it done and don't forget to visit some time" and then I did. It is just how I wanted it to be. They even put in a lake and chucked in some turtles! Pretty good... That's probably all I have to say about it.
