This is just a quick one to say I thought he was going to be rubbish but actually he was pretty goood! I wouldn't buy a CD but visually it was spectacular and he commands the crowd extremely well. I think I got to see just about the entire show in chunks over the 3 nights and it was excellent.
Highlights were on Saturday night. Andre doesn't like to play when people are walking in and out of the arena but on Saturday night the much threatened weather decided to dump on us so people were reluctant to go to their open air seats so rather than wait backstage for everyone to get in Andre and his orchestra played a couple of tunes. First one being Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Second one being Singin' in the Rain! Excellent!
Second highlight was when he played the Neighbours theme tune at the end of the night and Stefan Dennis (aka Paul Robinson) just happened to be in the audience so all four big screens were showing him singing along to the theme tune! Brilliant! Downside being that naughty Stefan had his umbrella up in the arena which wasn't allowed so as soon as everyone saw it they started putting theirs up too.
Another highlight could have been Bolero. I love that tune but he totally should have brought Torvill and Dean out for it! That would have been awesome and hilarious!! The guy can afford to spend $325,000 on a violin - I'm pretty sure he can afford to fly T&D out for a few shows!
Spent most of the weekend pushing the 50 million (okay more like 90,000 over 3 nights) old people that were here about in wheelchairs between the staion and car parks and their seats. We even had all of our golf buggies in action which went down a treat!
So the good news is that despite the rain everyone had a good time and after all the bad press the stadium has had this year we've now had a stack of great press - much of it in the form of letters from old people who had a great time and enjoyed being pushed about in the wheelchairs! 
The stage which took 5 days to put up is now down and I am avoiding the groundsmen whose job is to fix it and get the cricket pitches in for the end of the month!
Andre is coming back to Aus next year to play at Acer Arena (just next to the Stadium) and apparently he is coming back to ANZ Stadium in 2010. I did check and he isn't coming to the UK at all.
I tried to take some pics on my camera but it's not very good in the dark. Fortunately one of the maintenance guys just happens to be a keen photographer and he put his pics on our server for everyone so as if by magic I have put them on my blog just for you! Yeah!
