Pittsburgh Zoo...where I made a new friend :D

March 10, 2008 - Morgantown, West Virginia, United States

Here I am sitting behind my computer on Monday morning 10 am. I’m actually waiting to discuss my plan of approach with Dr. Bell, so it’s a good time to write something again. We’ve had a pretty busy, crazy week.

As I said in my previous blog, I’d be busy with my project the rest of the week. And I was right, I worked my ass off to get it done on Friday, and I did!!! Thirty pages, hahaha, I wouldn’t want to be a teacher to be honest. But yea, I mailed it to Dr. Bell on Friday, she said she would read it during the weekend.

Last week went by pretty fast, and I finally bought an umbrella!!!!!! Damn we had some bad weather last week and I kept bitching about it, because I forgot to take my umbrella, and I kept forgetting to buy one here. The best color they had was brown; and no I’m not buying a pink umbrella!!!!! Brown isn’t too bad; it’s not black though…but yea, works for me…

Anyways our Saturday wasn’t too bad, we did some grocery shopping and chilled out at home. Our plans were to go out that night, so after dinner I took a shower, and I was supposed to get ready, until I looked out the window and there was snow >.>

You guys know how much I love snow and all, but goddamn, I wanted it not to snow for once! Especially since I don’t trust the bus drivers here and the huge holes in the road, we would probably end up off the road between the trees or something. Even Giorgia, we were going to go out with a bunch of people, said she’s not going out of the house. So I told Chloe and Angela it was probably best to stay home and prevent accidents…Then Chloe came with the awesome idea to play poker :D

We bought a poker set that day, because we’re planning to have a poker night at our apartment this week. I totally kicked ass :D If only we played for money L

We didn’t make it too late though, because we planned on going to the Pittsburgh Zoo the next day, plus day light savings kicked in…apparently in Holland it’s next week. So this week I’m only 5 hours behind you guys! :D

So yea, the next day we first went to the Pennsylvania Welcome Center. You can get some information here about the state and cities you want to visit and stuff like that. And since my parents are coming in April and obviously I myself don’t want to travel in West Virginia only, I got us some folders…well more like 47818390 folders!

There’s actually a lot to do in Pennsylvania, and Morgantown is pretty close too. So filled our pockets with folders and went off to the Pittsburgh Zoo. Apparently there are many zoos in Pittsburgh, we went to this one though: http://www.pittsburghzoo.org/

It took us a while to find it, taking the wrong exist and stuff like that…yea women driving >.> Thank god for my music! I was just chilling in the back, with my music on, looking outside to see the city.

We got to the zoo and it only cost us 8 dollars!!!! Holland could learn something from the crazy Americans to be honest. We pay too damn much for it I say!

The zoo wasn’t that big, but I really liked it, so mom and dad, prepare to go to the zoo with me :D

I took some photos (Pittsburgh Zoo March 9 folder) too of course, and yes I’m in it too!!!! I took a photo of me and my new pet named Jay, he’s really cool, and his paws are even bigger than my hands! But he was so adorable, unfortunately I couldn’t take him home L

Me & Jay

It probably wouldn’t even fit, but hey, I miss having pets! By the way, Kevin, I LOVE YOUR CAMERA!!!! The photos look really good, and it seems as if I was like a foot away from the animals, when obviously I wasn’t, I don’t think I would still be here if I were that close to the lions >.>

Unfortunately because of the cold, not all animals were outside, so I definitely want to go back during the spring/summer.

People who know me, know I always NEED to buy something at the zoo, a stuffed animal, or a stupid pen, or keychain, whatever…This time I bought a small photo album made of elephant dung!!! YES ELEPHANT POOP!! Hahaha, seriously, the paper feels kind of think and ridged, and no it does not smell. It’s also good for the environment, and this way I can print out the photos and put them in the album.

After watching all the animals do their crazy stuff, we were hungry as hell. Chloe and Angela wanted to see the Andy Warhol Museum, yes fucking ew, no way are they dragging me into that place, I’d rather stay outside in the cold, which I did >.>

But anyways we parked near the Museum and grabbed something to eat first. We went to a place called Soho’s, also because the rest of the restaurants were closed, so we had no choice really. It was actually pretty good too, the hamburger and fries ;o

The Museum was only open until 5 pm, and we left Soho’s around 4.15pm, so I told them I would them outside the Museum around 5, and that I would go downtown. I took a few photos of downtown Pittsburgh, well only the bridge, but that’s what it looks like. I only had like an hour, so I couldn’t go far, and the part I went, all I saw was Burger King, McDonalds, Subway, Pizza, etcetc…nothing but food…It’s like can’t the damn American’s go without a food store for a mile…jesus.

So I guess I had to walk further into the city to actually see shopping malls, stores, and stuff. But I didn’t have the time, so mom and dad *hint hint* :D

On our way home we saw the West Virginia Welcome Center, so we decided to peak in there as well. Unfortunately it was closed, but we could still grab 2 folders from a stand.

So we’ll just go back some other day, as it’s only about 10 minutes from the apartment.

The rest of the night we chilled, and watched some tv. Sunday night is a TV night for me with, Cold Case and my new favorite show DEXTER! I love that show, I still recommend it!!!!

I guess I should stop writing now, or I’ll get complaints again about how it took them 10 minutes to read this!!! *winks @ Kevin* hehe

Luckily for you my brother, I don’t have anything to say anymore! So let me know how your week was, and I will catch you guys next time!

Xxx Kel

wow, that sure sounds like a whole lotta fun! LOL, so funny you should mention the elephant poo paper - there was some of that in ur xmas package that went missing! Now I dont need to get anymore, hehehe.

I really think you should have taken that cat home with you - think of the security aspect! No-one would ever dare break in, or, if they did, they sure as hell wouldnt leave again! So yeah, go back and get him!

You really sound happy - I'm so glad :)

WOW, your new friend is the COOLEST ever!!
Me -> jealous

Just to keep you in the loop, your card to Aunty was the best. No way that a card like that would be available in Holland :-). And yes we do have the coolest genes of the family ............

(For those of you who haven't got a clue what I am talking about; Kelly send me a special card for my birthday, it said "To my Aunt, I'm glad we're related. We're proof that al least some cool genes exist in our family";) Isn't she lovely ..........

Mom, Dad and Kevin came over for the occasion to tast the chocolate cake covered in chocolate and yes it seem to be tasty. Since you weren't there Kevin had to eat your spareribs. He did not seem to mind that much, he's such a nice brother LOL.

Heared about the family coming to visit you, just hope that Mom brings a big bag of cash and some shopping footwear. You seem to have plans for a whole year :-}
You must be glad to see them in the flesh again, I know Mom will.

SO untill next time, the Aunty with the cool genes
