We had a softball day today spending the whole day at the grounds with the team. First up they played Victoria which we knew was going to be a hard game as they were unbeaten. They pitched their number 1 pitcher who has just been named in the Olympic team for Beijing. The first couple of innings were pretty even and then Victoria scored one run. Sheri was only batting in this game (called Designated Player). She had first faced this pitcher three years ago in Melbourne and has always held her in high regard. Anyway Sheri smashed the ball and it went wide and high past the left outfielder and she got two bases. She was absoulutely delighted and even managed to get home on a hit by the next batter. The look on her face when she came off the field is one I will remember for a while. Unfortunately Victoria got on top of Queensland in the end but it was a great game.
At 2.30 we faced ACT in a must win game to retain our third position. Sheri was catching and batting in this game and her good form with the bat continued. She hit a single first, then a double and also got on base with a walk. She stole bases and slid and had a great catching game also. We won 10-7 in the end.
If you click on the following link it will take you to a match report and you can read for yourselves just how well Sheri played.

Sheri's ankle injury is holding up well and apart from a bit of skin missing on the hands and knees and a matching pair of bruises on the insides of her thighs she is doing well.
Tomorrow we play WA at 9.30 in the start of the double elimination finals.
