On Friday I had to go to Dreamworld to meet up with The Wiggles who were fostering the Australian Koala Foundation's blue-eyed koala, Logan. Of course when the Wiggles are visiting Dreamworld it is a huge publicity event and the newspapers and tv stations were there in force along with 5000 toddlers and their families. Luckily this time I had media clearance so was inside the cordoned off area so was able to get really good photos.
Logan behaved very well considering it was the first time he had been handled by anyone apart from his keepers. He seems to enjoy all the attention and the cameras and Tasha reckons he can be a bit naughty. However now that all the hype is over he will just become one of the bunch of koalas that are used for the koala photos and you won't be able to request to have a photo with him. He will only be used for one half hour session three days a week so he won't be overused.
I got to meet and talk with the Wiggles briefly and they are really lovely - very interested in the plight of the koala and help us out where they can. They recorded a community service announcement for us recently which will be seen on TV later in the year, closer to Save the Koala Month.
