First Day in London

May 31, 2008 - London, United Kingdom

We spent the afternoon walking around Kensinton and Knightsbridge.  First stop was Harrods, especially the food hall which is amazing.  Bought a few things, turkish delight, fudge and some ham.

From there we walked around Hyde Park visiting teh Prince Albert Memorial, the Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain, Rotten Row (where they ride their horses but we didn't see any).  Found a couple of friendly squirrels in the park (see photos and video).  From there we caught a extremely crowded tube train to Piccadilly Circus where we were able to book our tickets for the Lion King on Sunday afternoon.  We will be going straight from that show to the Osmonds 50th Anniversary Concert on Sunday night at the Millenium Dome.

We had an early dinner on the way home and then crashed as we were exhausted.

Today we are heading off to the Tower of London and Shakespeares Globe Theatre.  We have bought a London Pass so we don't have to pay to get in so we are going to try and fit in as many places as we can today.

The sun is actually shining and that is the first time we have really seen it since we left Australia.

You sound as if you are having a great time. You will need another holiday to get over this one when youcome home. My brother and his wife and my neice arrived home today from Canada/Alaska and the states, and had to buy another suitecase, as Leanne keep buying things. Hope you don't need to do that, Sheri. Look forward to your next instalment! Love, Leonie
