Sightseeing in London

June 1, 2008 - London, United Kingdom

We had a busy day taking the tube across London to the Tower of London and spending a couple of hours looking at the Crown Jewels and all the other historical artifacts that are kept there.  It is a fascinating place with lots of stories to tell.

From there we had lunch and then walked across Tower Bridge, visiting the Exhibition on the bridge on the way and climbing the towers.  From there we went aboard HMS Belfast and learnt about life on board during the war.  Our next stop was a place called Britain at War Experience which told the story of the Blitz and life in war torn London.  A couple of the places we planned to visit were closed but we managed to see Shakespeare's Globe Theatre from the outside.

From there we walked across the Millenium Bridge and to St Paul's Cathedral were we walked around inside and it was an amazing sight now that the roof has all been restored.  We continued on to St Martin in the Fields Church were we both did brass rubbings.

By the time we had dinner at Leicester Square we headed for home and another early night as we were tired from all the walking and the neverending flights of stairs.

Today we are planning to go to Buckingham Palace for the changing of the guard and then we have tickets for the Lion King at the Lyceum Theatre at 3 pm and then we are going to the Osmonds at the Millenium Dome tonight.

Hi There

Well - we have some good news _ A Grade Ladies won against Scorpions yesterday, not only won but won by the mercy rule. I think they are getting together as a team. Also, A Res Ladies won - Mandy hit a home run, so she is pleased with herself. It is absolutely pelting down today, they called the juniors off yesterday morning and we thought the rest of the day would be too, but the rain held off.
Please to hear you are having a good time and seeing plenty - Talk to you soon

Hope you enjoy The Lion King! Wish I was there. It is terribly wet here and quite cool, but I guess as it is the second day of winter, we have to expect that. The photos are great! Keep the news coming. Take care, Love, Leonie
