We took the bus into Edinburgh for a look around yesterday and had a walk through Princes Street Gardens where there is a great view of the castle. Then we walked to Toby's work in time to join him for lunch. In the afternoon we had a look at the shops and then took an open top bus tour of the city sights for an hour.
We have been blessed with some glorious early summer weather and although it is not all that warm the sun has been out allowing me to get some better photos.
Today my brother arrived this morning to take us out around the coastal towns of East Lothian. We drove as far as Dunbar, a fishing village, but unfortunately it was low tide so there was no water in the harbour. However we did see lots of seagull nest on the cliff.
Next stop was North Berwick which I remember visiting as a child - it had an outdoor pool which was absolutely freezing. We had lunch in a little cafe with an outdoor courtyard which was lovely and we walked along the main street, which is very narrow, back towards the harbour where we sat and ate our strawberry tarts that we bought in the bakers. They were really yummy!
While we were sitting enjoying the sunshine a cold haze blew in from the sea, almost like a fog, and we made a quick run back to the car as it got quite cold.
We drove back along the coast road to Musselburgh, driving past the famous Muirfield Golf Course where the British Gold Open is played periodically.
Later this afternoon my niece Leanne and her fiance, Kevin and baby Daniel arrived and we spent a couple of hours playing out in the garden. We introduced Daniel to The Wiggles and he was captivated.
We finally sorted out the computer problems which was good as we were getting very frustrated so now that we are back online we should be able to update regularly.
This Saturday we are going for a day long bus tour up to Loch Ness and Fort William. We are hoping this good weather will last so that we can get some good photographs. Toby is coming with us on the trip so it will be good to spend some time with him.
I am writing this at 10.15 pm and it is still quite light outside. The birds woke me this morning at 3;30 am. It takes quite a bit of getting used to.
