About us

My name is Rose and Brisbane in sunny Queensland is my home. Originally come from Edinburgh, Scotland and moved to Australia in 1980. I have three children, Tasha who lives only 30 minutes drive away and works at Dreamworld, Toby, who is currently working in Val d'Isere in France but will be returning to Edinburgh in a few weeks and Sheri who will be travelling with me on our big trip to the UK.

About our trip

It is 28 years since I moved to Australia and in that time I have only been back to the UK once, in 1998. That trip was done with all three children so this time it will just be Sheri and I who will be returning, but we will be meeting up with Toby who left to go travelling in May 2007. It is 10 years since we have visited family so we are looking forward to catching up with Mum and Dad, brother Alan and niece Leanne and her baby boy Daniel.

To begin our trip we will be visiting Hong Kong for four days, staying with our friend Mary who works there. We are really looking forward to this as it will give us a chance to do some sightseeing and shopping there. We especially want to visit the pandas at Ocean Park, Hong Kong Disney, the big Buddha and of course the markets where Sheri is hoping to stock up on clothes etc.

We leave Hong Kong in the early hours of Friday morning and arrive in London at 6.30 am on 31 May. We have booked into a small hostel in Shepherd's Bush and plan to do some sightseeing for the next three days before catching a train to Edinburgh on Monday 2 June.

Sheri is keen to visit the Tower of London again as she enjoyed it so much last visit. We will just be visitiing the usual landmarks but I would love to go to the British Musuem as I haven't been there on previous visits.

I have already booked concert tickets to see The Osmonds 50th Anniversary Tour at the Millenium Dome on the Sunday night which is very exciting.

Once up in Edinburgh most of our time will be taken up with visiting family and friends but we will be doing a few touristy things. I would love to take a tour around the Highlands to let Sheri see what it is like.

We will return to London on 21 June as we are planning to try and get a daily ticket into Wimbledon on the Tuesday, so fingers crossed. I am hoping Toby will come to London with us for a few days before we fly out for Australia late on 25 June
