Days 37-43 Cairns
August 26, 2012 - Cairns, Australia
Cairns has been fabulous. The Coconut Caravan Park is awesome, so much for the kids to do here.....3 pools including a splash park wtih water slides, play gounds, the worlds biggest jumping pillow, bike trackes, movies, free pancke mornings, turtles in the pond and more. We could have spent the whole time just at the park...but we didn't! For Simone's birthday on the 22nd we spend the afternoon playing at Muddys playground, had a lovely drink by the harbour and dinner at a restaurant...

Hi all! Mike and I are currently in Cairns, North Queensland. We arrived late Wednesday and spent the last couple of days exploring - LOTS! The first day we just pottered around the city centre, ate thai food, ate more food and then ate more food. YUM! The city is really nice - loads of restaurants and coffee shops. We spent the first day exploring the city, ate dinner and went to the cinema. Great day. Yesterday we went out to Green Island to explore the Great Barrier Reef - we hired...

The time had come for my last Oz ex journey, getting on Bunga's bus in Mission Beach to head to Cairns. It seems a very long time ago that Jason and I were getting on Sonic's bus in Sydney, on our way to surf camp, and a so much has happened since then. But I still had 3 days in Aus, and they were going to be awesome. In true Oz ex style, today was full of much more than just driving to Cairns. We stopped at a winery a little way down the road and tried a large variety of Australian fruity...

I did not enjoy my first morning of riding in Aus, I couldn't leave the hostel despite requesting an early leave the night before, before leaving I noticed a new puncture, the continual headwind, knee pain and baking heat by 8.15am. It's light here at 5am! What would have been a couple of hours of black riding in SE Asia is replaced by a couple of hours of bearable heat before the sun really gets up, but rising any earlier than this would leave me seriously out of sync with the rest of the...

March 6, 2011 - Cairns, Australia
We have had such fun in Australia. In another two days we will be at our last stop, Darwin. I took a day trip to the Gold Coast - gorgeous beaches and beautiful blue water - and had high tea at the Versace Palazzo. It is, well, quite lush. But ! The service (and the "high tea") was absolutely not up to the standards of Crystal . Bruce spent that day at a park and watching the crocodiles jumping. We've had a local Australian sea captain on board for the past 4 or 5 days, giving...
