Fortunately and Unfortunately - the pros and cons
March 16, 2014 - Copacabana, Bolivia
Thanks for the comments. Always apppreciated. Yes, Rose, people were surfing down the dunes. Funniest was one lad who climbed to the top, sat on his board, fell off, and became a laughing stock as his board gracefully sped down the dune all by itself.   I've heard that about guinea pig, Sally. Think Vince will probably try some when we get to Cusco, which is writhing with it, apparently. I will have one teeny forkful. I can't get excited about it at all.   We should be able to meet you in...

May 26, 2011 - Copacabana, Bolivia

June 11, 2010 - Copacabana, Bolivia
Following an unremarkable 4 hour bus journey across the Bolvian border to the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca, we arrived in Copacabana. Itself also a fairly unremarkable place! We were told this was the tourist area and it was especially pretty. We can´t argue with the hotel room however (bar the 5 stories of stirs to climb) as we had a brilliant view over the lake and local bay.The rest of the town held little to keep us there more than a few days, one of whih was spent watching Englands...

Copacabana (Lake Titicaca)
August 14, 2009 - Copacabana, Bolivia
Well we arrived in our last Bolivian town which sits right on Lake Titicaca.  The lake is beautiful, incredably big, and is the worlds largest lake at an Altitude of 3200m. The town however, was disappointingly a dinge.  All of Bolivia so far has been so lovely to us, however in Copacabana there were about a third of locals we met who were really rude to the extent that we just refused to spend money there.  Tanya and Murray did the walk up to the overlooking hill (very very steep...

24) Lake Titikaka
July 1, 2009 - Copacabana, Bolivia
At 3890 metres above sea level Lake Titikaka is the highest 'navigable' lake in the world, we're not quite sure why the highest one isn't navigable? We saw it afterwards in Chile and we could have rowed a boat on it no problem!? The bus trip to the exotically named town of Copacabana was beautiful, the lake is immense, like an ocean and it stretches on forever into the horizon as far as the eye can see. Copacabana sits right on the lake itself and as always at this altitude the air is thin...
