The story so far - double La Paz
March 23, 2014 - La Paz, Bolivia
In La Paz we found a decent room within budget and with hot shower. We managed to get haircuts for 2 pounds 50 pence each. That was great value for me. Vince wasn't impressed, though. He says he usually pays far less when he's abroad. We went to a micro brewery. There was one very good brew which tasted like English real ale. Somehow it was both hoppy and malty.   From La Paz we travelled to Coroico. The journey only took 2 hrs 30 mins in a minibus. It cost us under 2 pounds each. But it...

Arequipa bis La Paz
November 12, 2011 - La Paz, Bolivia
The next week was spent in and around La Paz: exploring the city, acclimatising to the altitude and socialising with Jill and her friends. Highlights included...

29. Bouncing Around Bolivia
May 25, 2011 - La Paz, Bolivia
Having gone through the laborious task of leaving Chile we ascended into ‘no-mans’ land, across part of the vast Atacama desert that covers part of Chile, Bolivia, Argentina and Peru.  We took a dirt road and finally arrived at the remote Bolivian border post which was at over 3,500 metres (10,500 feet) above sea level. We also met our Bolivian guide who would take us over the stunning scenery of the Atacama Desert and the Altiplano (the High Plains) as there were no roads to speak...
