Welcome to the Maelstrom
October 12, 2009 - La Paz, Bolivia
Well we finally got out of Copacabana after being there for a day longer than we wanted. We found a hotel that took credit cards and luckily they had had a customer that had paid in cash so they were able to give us cash on our credit cards. A lucky break as we were down to our last 30Bs, about $5. The day before we had managed to sell our Peru Rough Guide which gave us just enough to keep us afloat for one night. September 30, 2009 - La Paz, Bolivia
Here we are, holed up in Copacabana. We crossed from Peru into Bolivia two days ago. The border crossing was easy. they just looked at the passport photo and stamp thepassport. We eventually found the local micro bus for 4bs (not before Murray walked back into the airport Terminal and proceeded to tell the fellow passengers that came off the same plane how much the bus is (verses the Taxi)... right in front of the taxi...

Exploring the Amazon Basin
August 22, 2009 - La Paz, Bolivia
We had a terrible journey to Bolivia, we booked a 12 hour bus to La Paz, which we were promised had a toliet, we left at 10pm, the bus ended up taking 15 hours, there was no toilet, it was freezing and we had to queue for 2 1/2 hours at the peruvian/bolivian boarder as there was only one guy on passport control. We then got asked if we had drugs or money, we obviously had  neither, but we then heard, if you say you have money, they tell you there is a "fine" to cross, which is completely...
