Botswana - Kwetsani Lodge
May 12, 2011 - Chobe National Park, Botswana
At last it was lift off! Our Cessna raced down the runway at Maun International Airport and the stress of the morning dissipated slowly as we rose into the air. What a rush! We thought ID’s would be enough and passports for such a small flight would not be needed.  Wrong...they delayed the plane whilst Karl and George dashed back to camp. In the meantime the president arrived so the whole airport was closed down! We flew out over the delta for about 45minutes and touched down at the Jao...

Windhoek to the Okavango Delta, Botswana
September 20, 2010 - Chobe National Park, Botswana
After a big night out drinking Windhoek's in Windhoek and eating Zebra at some crazy bar called Joe's Beergarden, we left for Ghanzi, just accross the border in Botswana. Just before sunset we went on a bush walk with a local tribe of bushmen. They all spoke with very pronounced clicks and showed us how the find roots and plants for medicine, amd also how they find water and make fire. The next day we made our way north to the Okavango Delta. I was pretty excited about being here as I'd...

Victoria Falls and Game Drives!
August 4, 2008 - Chobe National Park, Botswana
Sit back and get comfortable, because we’ve had  a LOT happen since the last blog post! We arrived in Kasane, Botswana on Friday after a 4 hour delay that had us sweating.  Kasane is very small, but as the gateway to Chobe National Game Reserve, it receives a lot of tourists.  At the airport, I was immediately struck by the more polished, touristy feel of the place, as well as their liberal use of urine cakes in the men’s room. J  On Friday night, we went to the all-you-can eat buffet...

Namita: We arrived back in Maun after two days of camping in the Delta.  All of us were in desperate need of a shower and food.  Dave and I took a dip in the pool before cleaning up.  After lunch we left Maun to head to Chobe River (our last excursion in Botswana).  We travelled two days to get to our campsite near Chobe, and stayed at the "Baobob" campsite in between. The plan was to take a boat ride along the Chobe River to see some game.  Just before we boarded the boat it began to...

January 18, 2008 - Chobe National Park, Botswana
We left Namibia and crossed the border into Botswana in our purple truck. For the next 10 days we would be roughing it camping. Everything we need is our the purple truck named "Stevie"; tents, mats, food, etc. Jeffery, our South African-native cook gets upset if you call it a "bus". Our leader is Steven, and we have another 10 people in the group that are continuing from a pervious leg. We got the low-down and the rules for the next 10 days. Like, girls eat first, the safe hidden in a panel...
