Angkor What?
May 25, 2013 - Siem Reap, Cambodia
Since we've arrived in Siem Reap, we've been lying low. The temperature is around 38 each day and huuuuuuumid.  We booked a hostel with a pool and it turned out to be amazing. So we've been swimming and sunbathing and ordering drinks from our sun loungers. The main reason we came to Cambodia was the for the temples, and they didn't disappoint. Everyone you speak to will tell you that you definitely need a 3 day pass to see them properly. I say anything over 5 hours traipsing around them in...

A Tale of Two (capital) Cities
February 10, 2013 - Siem Reap, Cambodia
The Gentleman: So it turns out that the sign "free wi-fi here" at hotels and hostels in Vietnam and Cambodia does not necessarily mean "free working wi-fi here". We've only had intermittent and unreliable Internet for about a week since our last post. Apologies for the delay, I'm sure you've all been on the edge of your seat... February 14, 2012 - Siem Reap, Cambodia
For all you people who like to track our travels on your wallchart, here's a quick resume of where we've been so far :- Feb 1st - arrived Malaysia, eat some Chinese street food. Feb 2nd - flew to Saigon, Vietnam. Incredibly busy city, full of motorbikes mostly, and cars. Crossing 85 lanes of traffic is fun; walk very slowly across the road, no sudden movements. Every vehicle misses you by an inch. Alcohol here is the cheapest I've come across. Beer is 20p a glass for fresh (draught) beer on...

Ice cream for your ladyboy?
April 29, 2011 - Siem Reap, Cambodia
Day 1: Dan and I are in Siem Reap, or more correctly, "the place where everyone stays in order to get to Angkor". It was a very comfy 6 hour ride from Phnom Penh on a "limousine" bus, which showed a video of The Mummy III (even Brendan Fraser's dashing looks didn't make up for this drivel), followed by, inexplicably, Karaoke. Only no-one was singing, and the songs were all very bad. Mercifully my unfailing ability to fall asleep whenever in the seated position meant that I slept through...
