Koh Ker was once the capital of the Angkorian empire under the rule of King Jayavarman IV which made it an interesting place to see further temples and sculptures dating the 10th century. Apart from that we just felt like escaping the touristy trail and get off the beaten track in which we really much succeeded in. Koh Ker was circa 100km far away from Siem Reap and only able to be reached by rented cars which costs like 65-80 dollars or by shared taxis. We went for the last option...
