Pucon & Vulkan Villarica

I travelled to Pucón on the overnight bus with Katie, an English girl I met in Santiago.  The semi cama  seats were really plush compared with my last overnight bus experience (from Goa to Hampi in India)  - wide, leather, almost fully reclining - and I woke up at about 9.30 to see incredible Vocán Villarica casting its shadow over the tiny Andean resort town.  Pucón exists as a base for climbing the volcano so I booked a trip (you can climb it solo but you´d have to be insane) and...

10) Pucon, Chile
May 11, 2009 - Pucón, Chile
We decided to catch a bus back over to Chile and check out Pucon as we have heard good things about it, we were not dissapointed. You can tell it has it´s fair share of tourism but it´s still fairly small and quaint, but more to the point is it´s amazing location! it sits between two lakes and towering in the distance is a huge cone shaped volcano called 'Villarica'. It took our breath away to drive into the town and be presented by this enourmous snow covered volcano, truly stunning....

Pucon: Pleasure, pain & pisco sours (7-11 January)
January 11, 2009 - Pucón, Chile
Pucon (pronounced poo-con) is a cute little german-style town in the lakes area of Chile. It is small (>20k), and has stunning surroundings, everything is within two blocks from my hostel, the town is set up for adventure tourism (think queenstown in new zealand) and like all adventure tourism towns the town is set up for a party. The town is nestled between a lake, beautiful forests, mountains and an active volcano that dominates the skyline. The only downside to Pucon was the dust from...
