Australia
February 4, 2010 - Hong Kong - Kowloon, China
As you will have noticed I have been less than assiduous in keeping you informed of our whereabouts. There is a good reason for this. In fact, this reminds me of when I went to see New Model Army at The Cooperage in Plymouth. They were touring their album Eight which was their first album for five years or so. Now that was a mosh-pit of tumultuous energy and I emerged with some interesting bruises. Halfway through their blazing set their singer, the philsopher and bard Justin Sullivan, said...

Two Icons
February 4, 2010 - Hong Kong - Kowloon, China
Its always funny to see world famous icons for real. You see them so often on pictures, calendars, etc that you feel that you know them well. The element of surprise is lacking. Some of them are much more impressive than you had imagined, like Macchu Picchu. Others are a bit of a disappointment somehow, like the pyramids for me. We got to the office and it was pretty chaotic with people filling out their forms, queueing, asking when their car would be ready. There was obviously a backlog in the garage and people were...

A Chinese Australia Day
January 26, 2010 - Beijing, China
Some may think celebrating Australia Day would be difficult to achieve while residing in China… you know, with the lack of open aired bbq’s, beaches, pools, sun , Australian people and some may argue most importantly the Triple J Hottest 100. So with a lot of the essential ingredients missing for a traditional Australia Day, I had to come up with my own ways to celebrate… 9am – Greeted a bunch of chinese kids with a boisterous “HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY” only to be answered with a...
