Onward, Intrepid Traveler!
June 20, 2012 - Beijing, China
Time to shake the dust off the coffin and resurrect this decrepit blog!  For those of you who have traveled alongside me through India and Nepal, the Great Asian Adventure continues north to China.  After a delayed flight, a missed connection, an eight hour layover, and two hours sitting on the runway before the final airplane even took off, I'm writing to you red-eyed and sleepy-tailed in seat 16G (the row with all the leg room!), a few hours out from Beijing.  Despite a rocky start, I am...

It's four fourty in the morning - its dark still (damn!) and I had three hours sleep (it'd have been four if I wasnt reading a book about malaria and couldnt hear a mosquito in my ear!) Here we go!

Well I'll elaborate on that and add if you haven't camped out on The Great Wall, you ain't seen nothin' yet either!!! After a week of trying to book a date with a tour guide recommended to us by friends, things were beginning to look bleak. Our English speaking tour guide...

Picnic in the Park
August 4, 2011 - Beijing, China
Picnics feel like such an antiquated activity and what a shame that is too because it's such a wonderful community building activity. After a quick discussion yesterday we had only a few hours to plan for a day out in the smoggy sunshine. What started as a small idea slowly began to gain momentum as the venue went from down the road to a beautifully manicured garden and only a handful of people to a bus load. With a shopping list in hand, the Bruchez family split into different directions to...
