May 19, 2010 - Hong Kong - Kowloon, China
So, class was over and four of us engineering nerds decided to have a graduation trip to Hong Kong and Macau. It was to be a good sendoff for all of us before we enter the working field. I continued to travel for a few more months anyway. The first two nerds The second batch of nerds So thanks to cheap tickets again from AirAsia, we finally arrvied at the Macau Airport   Some random street views at Macau We took a bus from the airport to the hostel, which is situated at the center of...

A few asides on China
March 9, 2011 - Hong Kong - Kowloon, China
I am right now sat in an internet cafe in Chungking Mansions, also home to my guest house - type Chungking Mansions into Google images for an idea of the scale of the place, it's ridiculous. I have had a fairly relaxed day mulling around Kowloon, and with a little time free before I set off to catch my flight to Singapore, I thought I'd give you a few asides on the country I'm about to officially leave (though Hong Kong is just nothing like China in so many ways). Hong Kong
February 25, 2009 - Hong Kong - Kowloon, China
Hong Kong is really fun and it does remind me of New York, with all of the varied and very cute bars and eatieries.  It's actually quite small, smaller than I'd imagined, and very bustling. People are friendlier than they are in London or even SF. Happy Chinese New Year!!!!!
February 9, 2011 - Hong Kong - Kowloon, China
Chinese New Year is the longest and most important celebration in China. Chinese year 4709 begins on Feb. 3, 2011. New Year festivities traditionally start on the first day of the month and continue until the fifteenth, when the moon is brightest. Fireworks can be seen and heard every day and night over this two week period. For Chinese people, this day is the most sacred and special occasion than any other celebration. Once again I headed over to Hong Kong to renew my visa and enjoy a...

Hong Kong in seven days
November 19, 2010 - Hong Kong - Kowloon, China
I had the opportunity for a week’s break and headed over to Hong Kong for a short visit. What can I say about HK…. I LOVE IT!!!!. I arrived in HK on Saturday afternoon and was greeted by Ron at the airport. We took a 30 min bus ride to the accommodation and I can honestly say the only words that came from my mouth for over 15 minutes was ‘Oh my Gosh’. Hong Kong is a city nestled in mountains. It is picturesque and beautiful with sky high buildings, home to some of the greatest...
