China - Chengdu & Leshan

 I had a nightmare getting to Leshan and Chengdu, i tried to get to leshan first then decided to try to get to Chengdu. The proplem was there had been a storm overnight and the buses were cancelled till the afternoon from what I could understand. I Went outside and tried to find a minivan and found in the end charging not much more than the bus going to Chengdu. The Terrocotta Wariors

We are so glad that we visited Xi'an just to see the Terrocotta Warriors.  It was well worth the flight and I think this ranks better that the Great Wall - it definately had the "Wow" factor! For those of you that don't know, The Terrocaotta Army was found by accident when farmers were digging for a well in the middle of the countryside.  Thousands of Life sized soldiers have been unearthed as well as their horses.  All have a different face, expression and posture which makes this really...

The Great Wall

 On Thursday we set of for the Great Wall - by public bus!  This proved difficult at first as it wasn't signposted as to where you were supposed to get on the bus.  So after alot of bus drivers talking to us in chinese and women conductors flapping there arms at us and shouting we finally found where we needed to be.  After an 1.5 hr journey and me paranoid that I was getting Swineflu and popping paracetamol no end... we finally arrived at Badaling (the most commercial part of the wall...

13. Xian day 2 - Terracotta Warriors
July 30, 2009 - Xian, China
  Been there done that now, Firstly went to the wild goose pagoda where some budhist monks live, had a quick look round here, and in the art gallery there. then onto a place called BanPo Village museum, hadnt even heard of it, but was really interesting, its a village where people lived 6000 years ago, all it is now is foundation pits etc in the ground, and a few skeletons in the dirt, but amazing place to see how they lived, all in a small village surrounded by a mote to keep animals out....
