Hot springs in hot weather

We managed to get ourselves across the country on ordinary public transport. 5 buses and 12 hours later we ended up at Gringo Pete's in La Fortuna. It was our hostel of choice because it has just everything. For a start, we can afford it. Which is unusual in Costa Rica. Plus, for our money we get a private double room with en suite. Including hot shower. And the hostel has a big shared kitchen, so we can save money by self-catering. Having the use of a fridge is bliss in itself. I might go...

I am pleased to say that the boat trip back to the mainland from Bocas del Toro was uneventful. The sea could not have been calmer. I could, of course. However, we got to Almirante without me having a nervous breakdown. And I didn't even have a rum settler beforehand. Glad that's over. (Not the rum, the trip. As if ...) I am clean!

Hot water after 18 days. I washed my hair twice and stayed in the shower far longer than was decently necessary. I have even managed to get all the sand out of my ears. Unfortunately that means I can actually hear what Vince is saying. I expect the selective hearing will soon kick in though. We have crossed the border from Nicaragua into Costa Rica.
